What We Do
Healthcare, Community and Adventure
Safari N Smiles runs five types of outreach on every mission safari: dental care, medical outreach, optometry, community education, and a guided African safari at the end of the trip.

02Medical Outreach
Physicians and nurses run health screenings, basic treatment and referrals for communities with limited or no access to a doctor.
03Optometry
Optometrists provide free eye exams and distribute reading glasses on-site, often the only vision care a patient will receive that year.
04Community Impact
Each mission partners directly with local clinics, schools and leaders so outreach continues to benefit the community after the trip ends.
05Safari Experience
After outreach days, every trip includes a guided game-drive safari — think Big Five sightings in the Maasai Mara, Amboseli or Tsavo — before you head home.

Joining a mission safari takes three steps: sign up and travel with the team, spend a few days on outreach, then finish with a guided safari.
Step One
Join the Mission
Sign up as a dentist, physician, optometrist, student, or non-medical volunteer, then fly out with the Safari N Smiles team from the US to your destination country.
Step Two
Serve Communities
Spend one or more full days running dental, medical and optometry clinics in villages, schools or orphanages that have limited access to healthcare.
Step Three
Experience Africa
Close the trip with a multi-day guided safari game drives, cultural visits, and often a beach or hot-air-balloon add-on before flying home.

Safari N Smiles is a mission safari organization that combines dental, medical and optometry outreach in underserved African communities with guided safari and cultural travel across Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, South Africa and Tanzania.
No. While licensed dentists, physicians, hygienists and optometrists lead clinical outreach, dental and healthcare students, and non-medical volunteers, family members and friends are all welcome to join and support the mission and safari portions of the trip.
Current and upcoming mission safaris run in Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, South Africa and Tanzania, with Kenya being the most frequent destination.
Pricing depends on trip length and destination. Recent trips have started from around $3,000 to $4,000+ per person, generally including accommodation, meals, ground transport and organized outreach days see individual trip listings for exact pricing and inclusions.
Continuing education (CE) classes are offered on select trips for volunteers in the medical or dental field — check the specific mission trip listing for CE availability.
